Flat roofing is a frequent fixture in both commercial and residential buildings. Often seen above multistory buildings, a flat roof is horizontal and level, rather than sloped. It consists of a base fixed to the ceilings joists of the building. Why are flat roofs so popular? They are relatively inexpensive, for one. Also, once your flat roof is installed, they are more accessible than sloped roofs and you can use the space for amenities like rooftop gardens and solar panels. Flat roofs are best for smaller areas as it allows the roof to maintain its structural integrity. Though water rolls off of sloped roofs, it is more likely to get trapped on flat roofs. For this reason, it is covered with a waterproof membrane.
